Point of interest:The area of Kamakura is well-known for its impressive bronze statue of Amida, which ranks 3rd in Japan largest Buddha’s statues. The entrance to the temple Kotokuin requires a 200¥ fee, an additional toll worth of two 10¥-coins will allows you to get inside the 13.35 meters statue.Around the Great Buddha, many other temples distinguished themselves with atypical specificities, such as the Zeniarai Benten Shrine, where money washed in the temple is said to double in the future. It takes around 1 hour to get to Kamakura station from the hotel by train.

Staff's recommendations: “A place I like to go is Rikugien garden. It is a very calm and quiet place. There is a lot of forest and vegetation around the place. Each season has different colours, like the red leaves of autumn and the cherry blossom in April. You can enjoy the relaxing atmosphere while drinking Macha from the teahouse next to the pond, in the middle of the park. There is not too many people, usually old Japanese taking a walk in this peaceful garden. It is a beautiful place and is also historical as it was created around 1700 by a Shogun, the Japanese equivalent of a king.”Yoshida-san – Human resources manager

Staff's recommendations:“Yokosuka might be a bit far from Tokyo, but I think it feels more natural than the capital city. The people are more foreigner friendly, because there is also the US Navy at Yokosuka. So more people may speak English. However, rarely, there is some people who dislike the American presence and might be a little touchy... All in all, the atmosphere is really cool and relaxed. The beaches, restaurants and saunas or onsen are fine, but the special thing from July to August is that you can access the beach of Sarushima! You can reach it after a 10-minute ferry ride and spend the day there: you can enjoy the beach easily with the facilities that are open in Summer like changing room or have a barbecue next to the ocean. The island was used for military purpose during WWII and before, so there is a lot to explore within the growing vegetation.”Ali – Restaurant staff

Staff's recommendations:“On my days off, I like having a picnic with my family at Jingu shrine in Shibuya. There is a special area in the park where you can have a picnic. If you do not have prepared food, you can buy a bento at the konbini and then go find a spot at the picnic area. This is a very nice place and it’s very cool, not crowded. It is different than the temple, where there is a lot of crowds on the weekend: here, there is a lot of space, so my children can run all around and have fun. “Yumi-san – Front office Team leader

Staff's recommendations:“When I have some friends who want to see more about Japan, I usually lead them to Mt Fuji area, Kamakura or Enoshima, depending on the time they have.A great 1-day trip would be to Enoshima. There is the island that is entirely pedestrian. So, even if there is some crowd on the weekend, at least no cars are polluting the place. There is many things to do between the three shrines of the island: the Sea Candle is a lighthouse which offer a great panoramic view, the caves along the south coast, or even sailing! I do sail during my free time and Enoshima is a good place for that; you may need to make booking prior to it though. After touring through the island, when going downside in the direction of the port, there is a café on the left side of the road. There is often the need to queue up, but it is worth it if you want to relax while having a drink in front of the sea.”Chris – Restaurant service manager
