Mercure Tokyo Ginza - Planet 21: Mori No Project

Planet 21: Mori No Project
04 November 2018

The AccorHotels Group & The Mercure Tokyo Ginza are committed through our PLANET 21 program to support actions that reduce the significant impacts on the Planet and take responsibilities to balance our activities with the people working and living in our ecosystem through our actions!

Our “Plant for the Planet” program was initiated in 2009 in order to reduce the environmental footprint caused by laundry within our hotel.

By offering our guests the option to reuse their towels for more than one night, and reinvesting 50% of associated energy savings into tree planting

Members of the Mercure Tokyo Ginza Team went to Minamisōma a city located in the Fukushima prefecture 25 km north of the infamous nuclear power plant.

During the Tohoku earthquake the city was partially flooded by the tsunami which resulted from the Thoku earthquake on March 11, 2011 and suffered heavy damage.

Conjointly with the Morino Project association and the PUR project, our team participated on a tree planting activity to help building “Disaster-Preventive-Forests”, a biological eco-friendly method to reduce Tsunami’s impact on Japanese shores.
